G1 Reissue Soundwave (Hasbro)

Anyone buy this Soundwave from TRU on last month?? How about ur all comment about it?

For me, this is a must hv n valuable TF item that Hasbro issue currently! That y i bought 3 pieces at once!

So if compare with TakaraTomy reissue, which will b better??

Was Soundwave available at TRU last month?? wah u oso learning to be sapuer/scalper liao LOL... Any version is a good investment to have.. But the TakaraTomy encore series will be worth much more due to it's G1 packaging... It's really strange how things work ... insides all the same.. but different packaging can influence so much difference in pricing

Yaya, agree with u! I also think that Encore Soundwave will be more valueable than Commemorative Soundwave! The Encore package damn nice!

But Commemorative 1 include Ravage figure wo, Encore lack of this... A weakness...

Last month, i go 2 Midvalley TRU buy this soundwave on 2nd day when it available. When i reach there, no more stock (Whatever left there reserve by others)!!!

Luckily the friendly staff help me 2 reserve from others TRU! But... 2 available at Subang Parade n the others 1 available at The Mall TRU!

Haiz, spending whole day 2 get that 3 pieces... From Midvalley -> Subang Parade -> The Mall!!! Damn tired! But, worth it!

Wah... not bad ah... a fledgling toy hunter LOL... back in my "Walking Days"...i said "Walking Days" bcoz nowadays i am no longer walking coz i am disabled... but that's besides the point..Ok.. back when i was still able to walk..i waspretty much like u..i was a major hunter LOL.. shops info reach me super fast and i am at the shop within the next hour or so LOL.. Now i get my suff from trusted shop owners who would give me priorities in booking n discounts and i am happy to say that i got a couple of shop that i often go to n fully endorsed :)

TRU n Jusco is no longer my hunting ground liao.. way too many newbie collectors n sclapers around nowadays.. malas to play "Toy Hunting Rugby" with them liao

WRONG!!!, reissues woulnd't be valuable compare to vintage because new toys (that adult collect even reissues) are not going to be as valuable compare to those old toys from the 50-80’s because back then nobody have thought that toys can be a collectible item, during those time toys are just toys something, you play with until it is broken this factor contribute to why vintage toys increase in price because not much them exist in good condition (if you don’t believe me then try finding an original G1 Prime in good condition, C10) The reason why old toys can be so valuable is the nostalgia factor some people can’t afford certain toys from their childhood but when they are adults and have the spending power they go for it (to gain what is lost from their childhood) and what kids like 20 years ago and what kids like today are totally different. Nowadays kids play with card games like YuGiOh and their PS2 game console (if they get their hands on any toys it will be those like Gransazers and Justifiers). So where the nostalgia is for the current hot collectible like Medicom come from if no kids enjoy it?


Nowadays collectors take good care of their toys be it mint or lose. Some people however argue that any toys can be rare but what they don’t know is that nowadays there is a lot of collectors compare to the 50-80’s and some collector’s buy two sets of figures, one to open and one to keep and some toy hoarders have multiples of the same figure. The question now is how can a certain new toy be rare when every dorky collector has at least 2-3 in a pristine condition their closets? It’s just a simple supply and demand factor; the supply does not meet the demand and thus a hike in price. Besides how are you going to liquefies it?

Another thing is that some people will just tell me to invest into exclusives but all exclusives does is just retain it’s value better the reason why there is a hike in exclusive now is that because there is a demand for it but will there be a demand for it after 20 years?

The truth is you are not going to be as rich as Donald Trump investing in toys (unless you have a warehouse full of them like a 1,000,000,000,000 units). Again some people argues that 2-3 years from now their will be new collectors hoping in the bandwagon and they will look back at the old figures and are willing to pay a premium for it, (provided the company do not reissue that particular toy again) or release the same toy with tons of enhancement just like the Masterpiece Optimus Prime.

Alamaks... more valuable as in the current resale value lar...ppl will prefer to buy the Takara version over Hasbro version and at a much higher price... U don't think of it as toy investment in terms of making it rich like Donald trump... It's part of the fun n thrill of being a collector when u know the value of your toy and the "Want Factor" of the value in the market :)
