Paramount Says Transformers is in the Same League as Star Wars and Star Trek
The BBC has a report about the Star Trek Movie getting it's date pushed back from December 2008 to Summer of 2009. The article, while not revealing any new tidbits about the Transformers Movie, does mention our beloved franchise.

In repsonse to why they wanted Star Trek to open in the Summer of 2009, Paramount stated: "Summer is where you see the Star Wars and the Transformers," said studio spokesman Michael Vollman. "Star Trek is in that league."

Obviously Paramount holds Transformers in high regard, so much to look at it as being in the same league with two Sci-Fi goliaths. You can view the entire article at the BBC website here: here.
