Size does Matter...

Hey there fellow Cybertronians...hehehe don't get the wrong idea with the topic title of this thread, it's not what u guys are thinking about Anyways, I was musing over 2 of my latest vintage G1 haul ( Decepticon Targetmaster Triggerhappy and Autobot Targetmaster Crosshairs ) that was placed together with my TFA figs... and i noticed that they were the same size as the deluxe TF's!!!

It never dawned upon me that most of the typical boxed G1 TF figures were "Deluxe" size... and their price points have remained almost the same throughout the existence of the Transformers brand.

I remember vaguely that the very first TF i got as a kid was "Red Alert" and it was roughly around 49.00++. Back then this was a hefty price tag for a toy... perhaps equivalent to 100 bucks in todays monetary value.. maybe even more.

Perhaps that's the reason why when TF first debut back in 84, we are getting TF toys with die-cast parts instead of soft plastic for our deluxe size TF's. In the grand scheme of things... i think this generation of TF toy collectors are getting their TF toys much cheaper than way back in the 80's.. Nowadays 50 bucks don't do u much but back in the 80's 50 bucks can pretty much be a whole week's worth of groceries... no wonder my parents never bought me any TF's when i was a kid

So far... no other TF figs can fetch as much resale/secondary market value ... especially loose figures. But the G1 vintages are still holding strong with their respective value... Unless "Haskaramy" did something unbelievable like reissuing the whole G1 line... Vintage G1 TF's will still be king of the hill in terms of their worth... But i seriously doubt that they will ...

So until then.. i will still occasionally pick up a vintage TF here and there and continue hunting for em to build my Cybertronian army LOL

Cheers!!!

Bro, it's cool you have all those vintage at hands and can compare them to the newer versions. Sometime when you start to look at them, they are quite simple but they just attract you with their vintage looks, rite? Thats why the collectors are willing to pay more for them, especially those vintage style box which just make them like old school toys haha

Hope to read more of your vintage toys soon.

yeah vintage TF's are definitely worth getting.. btw.. do u collect vintages as well?? But the recent reissues of the vintages have really drag down their vintage price tags... but G1 vintage purist will have nothing but the originals.. they are willing to fork out big bucks for me... as for me, i usually get loose vintages as the boxes don't really makes a big deal for me ;p

But TakaraTomy is clever enough to see that the reissues have minor differences that makes em differentiable from the originals :)

Actually history of Transformers and it's toys as well as reviews of the toys can be found everywhere on the internet actually... That's y i prefer to go at it at a different angle. I prefer to talk about the toy in my own personal perspective as well as fond memories that are related the figure.. hence the blog on my collection... If the admins wanna set up something like what u suggested..perhaps a direct link to my blog would be much easier... :) I need to update my blog more often..i dah taken pics of almost all my G1 collection... i need to be more regular in updating my blog heheh ;p

As u can see in my blog.. i have chosen to start with my vintage G1 TF first as they have an extreme sentimental value to me :) Walaupun they look kaku as hell... i cannot get enough of them hehehe ;p

Cheers!!!
